It teaches kids how to build a shelf if they don't know how! If I had a kid I would read this book and show them the pictures!! It's cute!! I enjoyed reading it!! Good Job Maria and Karen! Mayday, Kent State
Published in Paperback by Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company (June, 1981)
Average review score:

Grad student at USCPayne is by far one the the experts of the Kent State tragedy. Mayday also contains the personal papers and accounts of the students who were killed - due to Payne's close relationship with the families. The book also hits at the concept of Payne - which he calls "mediated reality," how the media through their reporting determines "reality" for the viewing/reading public. This is especially important given the role of docudramas in portraying history on television. Payne was an historical consultant for NBC's award winning "Kent State," and there is a chapter on troubling concepts involved in history being presented via a dramatic, commercial medium like television.
Payne wrote his dissertation on Kent State at Illinois and has been an international expert on the event.

The Mom and Dad Pad: A Divorce Communication Tool
Published in Paperback by Free Spirit Publishing (February, 2002)
Average review score:

excellent tool for divorced and remarried parentsThis product line is fabulous. I use it myself and it has made co-parenting much easier, and helps to keep conflict at a minimum. The layout of the mom/dad pad specifically encourages parents to stick to child-related issues, concerns, and queries. I recommend this line of products to any parents who have a shred of desire to co-parent, if even the other parent does not wish to positively. Also appropriate for stepparents.

Moon, Moon
Published in Paperback by Random House Trade Paperbacks (October, 1976)
Average review score:

Good Coffee Table bookIf you are interested in the Moon, in studying some of the past practices of moon worshipping and knowledge along with more current information, this book is a must read. It's not a book to pick up and read cover to cover as much as it is a book to browse at your leisure. It has a 70's flavor to it, which makes it all the more interesting now.

Mrs. Appleyard's kitchen
Published in Unknown Binding by Keats Pub. ()
Average review score:

Warm-hearted yet sophisticatedHow delightful that this wonderful book is back in print. Part classic cookbook with fully described American New England recipes, partly family memoir of the World War II years, partly incisive characterizations of the many visitors to the "Appleyard" home, this book will bring you many happy hours reading, thinking, and cooking (and eating!) Mrs. Appleyard is no country bumpkin; her friends include Greenwich Village mavens as well as local New England characters. And her recipes are presented as part of full menus with descriptions of the social events that occured in her small Vermont village. A beautifully warm, evocative, smart and funny cookbook. Similar to Gladys Tabor, Peg Bracken.

No State Shall Abridge: The Fourteenth Amendment and the Bill of Rights
Published in Paperback by Duke Univ Pr (Txt) (March, 1990)
Average review score:

A careful, exhaustive look at the historical evidenceHaving just read many neo-originalist works on the 14th Amendment, I really can't praise this book highly enough. Curtis is thorough, fair, tolerant of ambiguity, and remarkably free of "presentist" blinders. He carefully traces the ideological context of the 14th amendment, the sources its framers drew on in crafting its language, and the beliefs of the legislators who debated it. In the process, he reveals the unfortunate misuses to which history has been put in interpreting the amendment over the years. Curtis's lucid and straightforward style and skill at making sense of complex events are a refreshing contrast to many of the commentators and historians who have drawn upon his work.
